Join us on Fridays to examine some of the key theorists relevant to Korean Studies scholarship. The series is currently moderated by Dr Eldin Milak, and we have been happy to welcome some University senior leaders as speakers in this series.
In these sessions we have covered the work of Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, Luce Irigaray, Franz Fanon, Jacques Derrida, Edward Said, Seth Kunin, Levi Strauss, Judith Butler, Raewyn Connell and others.
2026 Theory and Methods Program
Building on the KRC’s established Theory Reading Group, the 2026 program ran fortnightly from March to July and provided a regular research-training space for HDR and Honours students. Across eleven sessions, participants explored structure and agency, knowledge and power, nationalism, globalisation, postcolonialism, intersectionality, positionality and reflexivity. The hybrid format supported critical reading, methodological discussion and shared reflection across the KRC research community.
