Welcome to the KRC at Curtin University

The Korea Research & Engagement Centre of Western Australia is WA's premier Korea-focused research and engagement centre located at Curtin University in Perth.

Established with support from the Academy of Korean Studies, the Korea Research & Engagement Centre of WA is a hub for Korean Studies teaching and research in the Perth metropolitan area and Western Australia, aiming to train future scholars in Korean Studies through a strong focus on facilitating postgraduate and postdoctoral research opportunities, as well as research-led teaching. The KRC also welcomes affiliate members from outside Curtin University to collaborate on Korea-focused projects and we frequently host events aimed at bringing together Korea experts, as well as industry and public sector partners across our region.

In addition, the Centre seeks to foster collaboration among researchers engaged in Korea-related research in West Australian higher education institutions, and connect them with key stakeholders in the WA business community, state government and non-profit organisations with Australia-Korea interests.

followed by lunch generously sponsored by the GAROK Korea & State Government Office at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Sydney.

Venue: Curtin 139 St George’s Terrace, CBD

Event description:

Organised by Curtin University’s Korea Research & Engagement Centre in collaboration with the Perth Korean War Memorial Committee, this roundtable brings together Korea specialists, historians and experts of international and strategic affairs with the view of considering the past and remembering of the Korean War and Australia’s role in it, and what the absence of an actual peace treaty means for both Australia’s and the Republic of Korea’s (ROK) current and future strategic concerns.

The roundtable will be organised in two parts. The first half will focus on remembering the Korean War and Australia’s role in it and the second will consider what the increasing tensions in the Indo-Pacific and the Northeast Asian region mean for both Australia and ROK, from national security and defence to trade, resources security and other issues.

The presentations from this event will be published in the KRC Paper Series as a thematic issue on this topic.
